Sara-1 year

So, my baby is one.  How this happened still baffles me, because so vivid are the memories of last summer..waddling around, swollen ankles, weird pre-E symptoms, 6 visits to the hospital...It all just seems like it was yesterday.  But, alas, it was a whole year ago, and I can't believe it.

Sara had her well-baby checkup yesterday, the 13th.  Here are her stats:

27 pounds 2 ounces (>97%)
29.5 inches long (75%)

  • She's off formula, and we will start her on 16 ounces of whole milk.
  • She's a certified crawler these days.  There are no signs of her walking at any point, any time soon.  The doctor thinks it won't happen before 15 months old.
  • She eats everything we eat.  We started introducing meat, and dairy.  She loves it.
  • Her favorite word right now is "Uh-Oh!!"  and says it all day.
  • I swear I heard her say "Emma" one day, and she says "Mama, "Dada", and  "Jack" on a regular basis.
  • She loves Yo! Gabba Gabba and Sesame Street.  She does not watch a lot of T.V., but those are the favorites when she does.
  • She loves to be in the grass.  She will just sit there and not move, with a huge grin on her face.
  • She has 4 teeth (her top ones broke through at the same time and they are still coming in...)
  • She claps, and dances, and "sings".
  • Her Daddy is still very much her favorite person.  She practically jumps out of my arms when she sees him.
  • She's in the "let's put everything in my mouth" phase.  I hate this phase.
  • Still sleeping 11 hours or so a night.  She's been a little tweaked out due to her teeth coming in, but for the most part, she's still a champion sleeper.
  • She loves to play peekaboo.
  • She loves baths.
  • Her relationship with Emma is growing and it's amazing to watch.  Her and Jack have been best buds forever.
  • She LOVES to snuggle.  Also, she gives amazing hugs, and usually hugs are accompanied by pat on the back.  It's so cute.
  • She really is the chillest kid I've ever laid eyes on.  She's rarely unhappy, and you can usually find her with a huge smile on her face.

Okay, Sara.  Here is where I get sappy.  Hey, I can't help it, you kids MADE me this way.  You came into our lives during a very dark time.  You were the light in the darkness of your Uncle's cancer battle.  Our light.  Our...Grace.  Thank YOU for being there when we needed you to be.  I will never forget it.  Never, ever, ever.  You are a joy and an amazing blessing, and I'm so grateful that you are mine!  I love you more than you'll every know.  Happy Birthday to my 'SaSa'. It's been such a pleasure getting to know you.  You are the exact baby I wanted...it's amazing how that works out.  I'm 3 for 3 in that category!!

I love you, Sara Grace Budesheim.
