Emma's Eyeballs
I go a month without posting and BOOM, two posts in a day!
So, a year or so ago, Miss Emma went in for a routine well visit at the pediatrician's office. They do a routine eye and hearing check, and she was due for hers. Since Emma is Emma and freaks out when she's uncertain about things, she flipped and was hysterical. They proceeded with the vision test, which was all of 3 seconds long, and the medical assistant wasn't even near her, but I digress. Her numbers came back funky, but they weren't sure if it was because she was crying, or if in fact her vision was off. So, off to the pediatric opthamalogist we went.
The P.O. was awesome, and after her visit, the results were in. She had pretty significant astigmatism. He told me to give it some more time and we'd have to go in for a recheck. If the eyes stayed the same, or got better, no glasses would be needed, and if they got worse, she would have to wear glasses.
So, the follow-up was this past week, and she failed her vision test. She has severe astigmatism and is now a part of the glasses club. I'm not surprised in the least,Greg has astigmatism, as do I. I wear glasses, as do most of the people in our families. So, this didn't come as much of a shock.
So, Greg took her to the eyeglass store and she picked out some pretty kickass frames. They have bling and everything. I took her today to pick them up and she looks so awesome.
When we left the store, I couldn't help but chuckle at the way she was slowly looking around at everything. Probably seeing everything clearly for the first time. She kept saying, "Everything looks so big and clear!!" and "it's not fuzzy anymore!".

Em, you look awesome. I'm so glad you can see clearly. I can't imagine how rough that must have been. I know how frustrating it is for me when I don't have my glasses (such as this moment, right now, I have to go get new ones because Sara broke them...) so I would guess that it's so much worse for a 4 year old. Own those glasses, girl! You're a superstar!!
