Halloween 2013

Since it's nearly Thanksgiving, I guess now is a good time to post about Halloween.

My plans were grand, as they are every year, to have matching costumes.  I wanted minions, cowboys and cowgirls, the fresh beat band...something...a theme...Well, walk into the Halloween store, and that gets thrown out the window!  We left with the makings for SpiderMan, a Kitty, Cinderella, and a biker dude.  Fine.  But NEXT year...we are all matching!!!  I think I said that last year, too.

Pumpkin carving is fun.  We looked for stencils and Greg got to work.

I free-handed the eyeball.  It sucked.  Oh well.  An artist I am not!

The next night, Mischief Night, we did some Halloween crafts.  I like hanging their crafts in our big front window.  I joked that we were the anti-Mischief night.  Halloween music and coloring with the kids certainly beats egging someone's house or toilet-papering trees!!

On Halloween Day, both kids had a Halloween parade.  At different times, mind you.  So, Emma's was first.  I was the only parent there.  Her class was the only class marching around.  I got one picture, but it was blurry.  The littles and I cheered for them and then we left.  Jack's parade was later in the afternoon, and of course Alex and Sara decided to double nap, so I didn't get to go to Jack's parade.  I felt like a terrible Mother...(that damn Mom guilt creeps in at the weirdest times!!) but we both got over it quickly.

We had an early dinner that night, and my Mom came over to walk around the hood with us.  It was a our first year trick or treating here, so we weren't sure what to expect.  There were quite a few kids out, but the weather was weird, warm, but misting and just crappy, so I think that kept a lot of people in.  I didn't get a lot of pics and most of them were blurry, but here they are:

Spidey Jack

Kitty Emma
Sasserella
Al Teller

My brood

A good shot of his 'tats'

We caught up with a friend and went to some houses together

Jack sprinted between houses.  Full on, running FULL speed.

This girl wanted nothing to do with going to people's houses.  I had to remind here that there was CANDY involved!!

We did pretty well.  The kids were pleased with their amount of candy!  It was a great first time trick or treating in our new neighborhood.  I hope you guys enjoyed it!
