Looking Back--All Work, No Play

One of the ongoing themes of my writing and other social media posts is the fact that Greg works a lot.   It's always been that way and in order for our family to function, it needs to be that way.  So, with him working as much as he does, he's not home as much as I would like, and definitely not as much as the kids would like, so I've had to think outside of the box a bit as of late.  We've been working at Greg's part time job every Friday night.  It helps him with his workload and it gives us the family time that we all crave.  But it's more than that.  It's so much more, actually.  I want the kids to see that their Dad works hard.  He has an insane work ethic that I hope they all get a part of, because it's one of the most admirable qualities about him.  I want them to understand how things work and how the real world is and how hard people work to make the world go 'round.  Life is filled with teachable moments and life lessons, if you chose to use them.  I'm grateful to be able to experience this with them.  I hope that they always have these memories to look back on.
