Georgia...sweet Georgia
We have never been on a vacation as a family of 6. Actually, come to think of it, we were never on a vacation as a family of 5...or 4... So, the opportunity presented itself, as we decided to take a drive down to Georgia. Greg's cousin, Kathy, and her family opened up their home to us. Kathy has 5 kids, and is used to a lot of action going on at any given time, so we took her up on her offer and began the long drive down.
We drove through the night, and the kids did SO well in the car. They slept for the most part, stirring here or there, with the occasional, "are we there, yet?" We arrived in South Carolina at 6am, and went straight to The Waffle House, also known as Lisa's happy place. I haven't been in nearly 7 years, and I couldn't wait to share the experience with the kids.
The next day, our last full day in Georgia, we went out to dinner at a fun, kid-friendly place. We ate in the part of the restaurant that was filled with video games, so of course the kids had a blast.
So, that was that. Leg one of our big vacation was in the books, and we left the next morning to drive up to Myrtle Beach. We had SUCH a great time. Thank you Kathy and Chris for allowing us to take over your house for a few days. We had so much fun. The kids still talk about their cousins and have talked about wanting to move to Georgia so they can see them more often. I don't think that will happen, but never say never, I suppose. Thank so much for your hospitality and your generosity.
Next stop...Myrtle Beach!

Smothered and covered, please? |
We got to The Robinsons house by 10:30 am and we were FRIED. So, we just spent the day chillling out and having great conversation while the kids got to know eachother.
Since it was the 4th of July, we decided to light off some small fireworks for the kids before my crew went to bed.
That night, we rented movies. The kids snuggled up in the playroom together, and had a great time.

The next day was more chilling out. Greg and Kathy took the kids to the pool, while I ventured out to meet a longtime online friend for lunch. We, of course, didn't take any pictures. This just means I'll have to go down again, soon, and grab a pic or two. When I got back from lunch, we just played outside with the kids. Greg became obsessed with the game "Cornhole" and is actually really good at it. I sucked in the beginning, but got better and better. We are going to be buying our own set, because we really had so much fun.
