Nicknames

I LOVE nicknames.  I guess you would know that, considering my sons have technical nicknames for first names.  No, Jack is not John, and don't you dare think of calling my youngest 'Alexander'.  There is nothing wrong with either of those names, but they just didn't jive with what I was looking for when I named my kids.

Very rarely do I actually call any of my children by their given names.  Well, when they are in trouble, I do pull out the old first/middle name combo.

Some of the nicknames for them make sense, but some of them are just...weird.  Let's look, shall we?

Jack-  Jack has been "Jackaboo" since day one.  So, that has turned into "Boo", or "Boo Boo".  He's also, "Jacky", "Jax", and "Number One".  His nickname with the most street cred is "J. Dubs" Dubs, stemming from the W in his middle name).  I call him Dude a lot, as well.  Sara calls him "Gack", which I find hysterical.

Emma-The first thing I called Emma was Esmerelda.  I don't know.  I was calling her that in the hospital.  I have no idea why, and thank goodness it didn't stick.  She's "Em" or "Emmie" most of the time.  We call her Rosie a lot, too (stemming from her middle name).  Her ghetto-fab nickname is "E.B. Fresh" (Emma B is FRESH) and that has been shortened down to just Fresh, most of the time.  She's called Pretty Girl ,or Pretty Lady a lot, too. However, aside from Em and Emmie, I'd say the most used nickname for her is "Siss", or "Sissy".  Sara calls her "Abba" since she cannot say her "m's" at all....(yes, that makes me "Bobby".)

Sara- So, when she was born, I was reading the Hunger Games, so I called her Katniss for the first two weeks of her life.  Yeah, I know. I refer to her as SGB in writing. After that, she turned into "Sasa", which eventually turned into "Sass" or "Sassy".  This nickname changed happened when her SASSY personality started to develop.  Jack started calling her "Bubba" a few months ago, and that has kind of stuck, as well.  Poor thing...Bubba....ugh.

So that brings us to Alex-He's still kind of new, so all I've come up with so far is Ally-Boo, and Al. I tried "Lex" but that doesn't seem to fit. I refer to him in writing as Big A, which will probably wind up his street-cred, ghetto fab nickname (Because everyone should have one of those, right?).  Since I refer to him as Ally-Boo, that has turned into...are you ready??...Prince Ali a Babwa.  There is seriously something wrong with me.  For real.  I even sing the song to him.  Poor kid.  I've also called him Petunia.  Yes, I realize I'm setting him up to have a complex, I get that.  I refer to him most as "My Dude", however.

So, yeah.  Lots of nicknames over here.  What do expect from the person who has been called "Lala, La, Lee, Lita Pita, Lou, and Lisa-Lou" all of her life?!!
