Emma-5 years

Oh, Emma Rose.  5 years.  I can't even comprehend how this has happened.

You've had a big year this year, Em.  You've grown and changed, and matured so much, that I can barely keep up with you.  You've gone from shy to outgoing.  You've started school.  You've grown 2 sizes (in length, that is.)  You wear glasses.  You are SO helpful.  You have more energy than anyone I've ever met.  You love to snuggle.  You love to love. You truly are such a special girl.

You know, I've always credited you for making me realize that there is no limit to a mother's love.  You made it so easy to love you.

You know what I love about you?  Your willingness to learn.  You always ask questions.  You always want to help...especially with the babies.  You love to 'take care' of me, if I'm upset or not feeling well.  You're always so quick to give a much needed hug or kiss (tiss).

Your imagination is wild!  Most days, I think you're pretty convinced you're a kitten.  Haha.  You meow and run around on all fours all. day. long.  Sara likes it, she thinks you're her pet.  Speaking of Sara, you two are becoming closer.  She loves you so much, and calls you her best friend.  I love it!  You and Jack have such a special relationship, as well.  You always miss him when he's not here (even though you fight when he IS here!!) and it's so nice to see the love that you have for each other.  However, the littlest dude, Mr. Alex, seems to have most of your love and affection, these days.  You love him, and he you.  I call it the 'December Baby Connection'.  He even reminds me of you, Em, from the way he walks to the way he's progressing, right down to his terrible eczema.  It's kind of neat to see.

You are a beautiful, smart, talented, amazing, bright old soul.  You love to sing and dance.  Your passion is for art.  You often tell me that you want to be dancing on television.

I don't know what else to say, Em.  You hold a very special place in my heart.  My biggest girl.  My very special friend.  You are complex, and brilliant, and an amazing little person.  It's an honor to be your mother.
Truly.

I love you, Miss Emma Rose.  Thank you for being you.

...And I thank you for choosing me, to come through unto life to be a beautiful reflection of his grace. For I know that a gift so great Is only one God could create and I'm reminded every time I see your face.

I love you, my special girl.
