Beach Days

I LOVE the beach.  Love, love, love it.  Very fond are the memories of summers past, when The D'Imperios would go and invade Point Pleasant.  I can only hope that my babes love the beach as much as I do.

Last week, Greg surprised us with a random day off in the middle of the week.  We decided to head down to a new part of the Jersey Shore, as per our neighbors recommendation, Asbury Park.  I haven't been to Asbury in...15 years?  And when I was there, it wasn't quite family friendly.  So, I was a little reluctant, but hopeful.  Well, we LOVED it.  They are really turning it around.  There is a spray park right on the boardwalk that the kids LOVED.  Lots of neat (expensive) places to eat and shop.  There is an awesome italian ice stand.  Lots of improvements, but it still has the cool vibe that Asbury is known for...I mean, we parked right next to the Stone Pony...HELLO, how cool is THAT?

Anyway, as it turns out, my kids love the beach as much as I do.  Jack and Emma love the water and playing in the sand.  Sara likes to eat sand.  For real.  Who does that?  How does that even taste or feel remotely enjoyable?

I just took a couple of pictures of our first visit there, I was too busy playing in the surf with the babes to get any more than that.  I also have a video of the dolphins that we saw.  I'll have to figure out how to post that up here.

I may complain about how ridiculously expensive NJ is, but seriously, to live so close to the beach is such a joy.  I hope to get there a few more times this summer!  We love the BEACH!!
