Sanctimommies of the world!

Sanctimommy:

A mother who points out perceived faults in the child caring of others

Yes, I said the "s" word.  I was just recently introduced to the name for those mothers. You know them.  You may even be one.  Hell, I've been one, on occasion.  But, at this point in my life, at this point in my "mothering experience", I ain't got NO time for it!

Still not sure what a Sanctimommy is?  Here's a few examples:

Mother:  I let my kid cry it out at naptime
Sanctimommy:  I would never do that, that is wrong, and dangerous and you're going to kill your child.  Don't you know what's best for them?  Probably not, because you are selfish.

Mother:  I bottlefeed with formula.
Sanctimommy: I would never do that, that is wrong, and dangerous and you're going to kill your child.  Don't you know what's best for them?  Probably not, because you are selfish.

Mother: I co-sleep, I vaccinate, I let my kid sleep upside down, and I let them eat peanut butter before the age of 6 months.
Sanctimommy:...you see where I'm going with this, right?

Hey Moms, isn't motherhood hard enough?  Why don't we support each other instead of tearing each other apart?  I do things that I'm sure people don't agree with.  You know why I do them?  Because it's what works for me and my family.  You don't do things the same way?  Guess what?  That's FINE.  You're not better or worse than me, just different.  Life is too short to be so bitter and abusive.  I'm not a perfect mother.  Guess what, neither are you.  Yeah, YOU.  The one reading this.  None of us are perfect and that's fine.

It really is fine, you know.  Calm down.  Take a breath.  You do you, and I'll do me.

Be gone, Sanctimommies, BE GONE.
